about your instructor

alla Prima Studio was founded by talented artist Gretchen Kimball. A native of Napa Valley, Gretchen has devoted her life to intensive international study of the fine arts since 1993. Following her dreams to travel the world studying fine arts, Gretchen's artistic adventures led her to the heart of some of the finest international creative communities and institutions.

Having completed a BFA in Painting in the Spring of 2005 at the San Francisco Art Institute, Gretchen brought her global journey full circle, returning to the Napa Valey to settle into studio work.

Inspired by the surrounding natural beauty and an aspiration to share her enthusiasm for the creative process Gretchen is offering world-class landscape painting retreats.
